On their second album “Limitless productivity music / unlock your full potential with JP”, Candytoe puts their own music through the wringer, driven by notorious boredom and a pinch of madness. Inspired by the sedative office world of Zurich banker Jean-Pierre Frischknecht, their music is softened in a Muzak-like wash cycle.
Atmospheric down-tempo soundscapes intended more as background music promise unlimited productivity. Jean-Pierre’s life is not as streamlined as it seems at first. Almost imperceptibly, out-of-tune keyboard sounds, distorted voices or breathing noises mix into the recordings and hint that the abyss is just a foot away.
“Limitless productivity music / unlock your full potential with JP” was created in 2024 as part of the JP Sessions, a multi-part performance at the interface of music, performance and multimedia.
